We believe that education has the power to transform a nation. We are committed to transforming education in Guinea-Bissau, using school as a means to bring about meaningful change. Character training is one of our main goals. In a country where education is still a great challenge, we are offering not only intellectual but also spiritual training. Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."  We understand that true character training builds correct habits and should occur continuously throughout the day, not just in occasional lessons. Every aspect of the curriculum, teaching method, attitude, and action, of both students and teachers, is an opportunity to shape character. At school, each student has the chance to discover and develop their unique talents, whether in music, the arts, sciences, or sports. We have already trained doctors, teachers and other professionals who are contributing significantly in various spheres of social and community life. In this way, we are able to impact all areas of society. We still have a lot to do to transform Guinea-Bissau, especially in the field of education. Bethesda Clinic Our clinic serves more than 1,500 patients annually, offering essential services such as: - Disease prevention: Health education to avoid common diseases. - Malaria diagnosis: Testing and treatment for early detection. - Pharmacy: Distribution of essential medicines. - Dental treatment: Basic dental care. - Wound dressings: Wound care to prevent infection. These services are fundamental to improving the health and well-being of the community and thus demonstrating God's love in a practical way, through care and mercy.  Maternal Health in Guinea-Bissau Every two minutes, a woman dies in the world from pregnancy or childbirth problems that could have been avoided. Every minute, six newborns die due to the poor health of their mothers. In Guinea-Bissau, the situation is especially critical. The country ranks 5th in the world in maternal mortality, and many women need to walk more than an hour to access basic health services. About 40% of women's deaths are related to gestational complications, making it a tragic statistic. In 2020, during a visit to a maternity hospital in Guinea, I witnessed impactful stories. One of them was that of a woman who lost her twin babies on the way to the hospital, as she had to travel by bicycle from too far away. This story is not isolated; Similar tragedies occur daily throughout the country. Inspired by the story of Sifra and Puah, midwives who protected lives in Egypt, we decided to take action to protect life. We are training midwives and doulas and plan to create a model maternity school in Guinea-Bissau where women can receive respectful and professional care.

We are dedicated to serving and transforming lives in the tabankas of Lenqueto, Bani, Bondié, Usumane, Madinalad, and Cheche, reaching more than 350 people, including men, children, the elderly, and pregnant women. Our work reflects a deep commitment to the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of the communities we serve.
Our teams and volunteers visit these communities weekly, leading Bible listening groups and providing care through medical teams, responding in practical ways to both spiritual and health-related needs. We believe that holistic care is essential for creating real and lasting change.

Em meio à grande injustiça de não ter acesso à Palavra de Jesus em áudio na língua materna, trabalhamos incansavelmente para ser uma bênção para o povo guineense. O Movimento KEBUR é uma iniciativa de engajamento bíblico que busca proporcionar acesso à Bíblia na língua materna para o povo da Guiné-Bissau, bem como mobilizar a igreja local para um movimento de evangelização e discipulado.  A missão, a visão e o objetivo estão alinhados com os princípios da fundação como um todo:
- Missão: Facilitar o acesso à Bíblia para o povo guineense em sua língua materna e incentivar a mobilização da igreja local.

- Visão: Transformar a realidade dos guineenses por meio da Palavra de Deus, capacitando-os a se tornarem discípulos multiplicadores em todas as regiões.

- Objetivo: Distribuir 500 mil Bíblias em toda a Guiné-Bissau.

  Clínica Betesda Nossa clínica atende mais de 3,000 pacientes todos os anos, oferecendo cuidados essenciais de saúde que impactam diretamente a qualidade de vida da comunidade. Entre os serviços prestados estão:
Prevenção de doenças: Educação em saúde e orientação prática para reduzir a incidência de enfermidades comuns.
Diagnóstico e tratamento da malária: Testes rápidos, acompanhamento e tratamento, promovendo a detecção precoce e a recuperação.
Farmácia: Distribuição responsável de medicamentos essenciais, garantindo acesso ao tratamento adequado.

Esses serviços são fundamentais para promover saúde, prevenção e esperança, contribuindo para o desenvolvimento integral da comunidade. Por meio de cada atendimento, buscamos expressar o amor de Deus de maneira prática e concreta, servindo com compaixão, cuidado e misericórdia.
 Saúde Materna na Guiné-Bissau A cada dois minutos, uma mulher morre no mundo em decorrência de problemas relacionados à gravidez ou ao parto que poderiam ser evitados. A cada minuto, seis recém-nascidos morrem devido às más condições de saúde de suas mães.
Na Guiné-Bissau, a situação é especialmente crítica. O país ocupa o 5º lugar no mundo em mortalidade materna, e muitas mulheres precisam caminhar mais de uma hora para ter acesso a serviços básicos de saúde. Cerca de 40% das mortes de mulheres estão relacionadas a complicações gestacionais, um dado profundamente trágico.
Em 2020, durante uma visita a uma maternidade na Guiné, testemunhei histórias impactantes. Uma delas foi a de uma mulher que perdeu seus bebês gêmeos a caminho do hospital, pois precisou viajar de bicicleta por uma longa distância. Essa história não é um caso isolado; tragédias semelhantes acontecem diariamente em todo o país.
Inspirados na história de Sifrá e Puá, as parteiras que protegeram vidas no Egito, decidimos agir para proteger a vida. Estamos treinando parteiras e doulas e planejamos criar uma maternidade modelo na Guiné-Bissau, onde mulheres possam receber um atendimento respeitoso, humano e profissional.

- [bible-engagement](https://ywamguineabissau.org/bible-engagement) Bible Engagement KEBUR Movement In the midst of the greatest injustice of not having access to the Word of Jesus in audio in the mother tongue, we work tirelessly to be a blessing to the Guinean people. The KEBUR Movement is a biblical engagement initiative that seeks to provide access to the Bible in the mother tongue for the people of Guinea-Bissau, as well as mobilize the local church for an evangelization and discipleship movement. The mission, vision, and objective are aligned with the principles of the foundation as a whole: - Mission: To facilitate access to the Bible for the Guinean people in their mother tongue and to encourage the mobilization of the local church. - Vision: To transform the reality of Guineans through the Word of God, enabling them to become multiplying disciples in all regions. - Objective: Distribute 500 thousand Bibles throughout Guinea-Bissau. Statistics... - To date, we have distributed approximately 39,600 Bibles in audio format in local languages. - In 2023, we delivered around 14,100 memory cards, with 4,460 distributed this year. - We have already achieved 8% of our main goal.

Como JOCUM, vivemos com um propósito claro: conhecer a Deus e fazê-Lo conhecido. A ETED (Escola de Treinamento e Discipulado) é uma expressão viva desse chamado e uma jornada que pode mudar radicalmente a sua vida em apenas 5 meses.
A ETED é formada por duas partes complementares: teórica e prática, pensadas para gerar transformação profunda e uma fé ativa.

  Fase Teórica – 3 meses
 Durante os três primeiros meses, você vai construir fundamentos sólidos da fé cristã. É um tempo intenso de aprendizado, discipulado e relacionamento com Deus. Você será desafiado a crescer em caráter, identidade, intimidade com Deus e visão de Reino, vivendo em comunidade e sendo preparado espiritualmente, emocionalmente e ministerialmente.
 Fase Prática (Campo) – 2 meses
Nos dois meses finais, você viverá o treinamento missionário no campo, sendo enviado para nações que ainda não têm acesso ao Evangelho. Aqui, tudo o que foi aprendido ganha vida. Você viverá o evangelho na prática, servindo pessoas, cruzando culturas, enfrentando desafios reais e aprendendo a depender totalmente de Deus.
Essa combinação entre teoria e prática torna a ETED uma experiência única. Não é apenas aprender sobre Deus, é andar com Ele, ouvir Sua voz e ser usado para levar esperança onde ela ainda não chegou.
Serão 5 meses de fé, entrega e transformação profunda, que vão marcar sua história e gerar um impacto eterno em você e nas nações.
 Introdução aos Cuidados Básicos da Sáude "Venha descobrir o fundamento bíblico para a saúde e a cura, aprender habilidades práticas de cuidados em saúde e como orar e ministrar às pessoas." A ICBS combina três meses de aulas presenciais com dois meses de atuação prática no campo, realizados em uma nação em desenvolvimento, proporcionando uma formação completa e transformadora.
 Fase Teórica (Aulas)
Conteúdo:
Treinamento em habilidades práticas de cuidados em saúde, incluindo avaliação de pacientes, verificação de sinais vitais, cuidados com feridas, entre outros fundamentos essenciais.
Objetivo:
Compreender como a enfermidade afeta o corpo, a alma e o espírito, promovendo cura, restauração e liberdade por meio dos princípios do Reino de Deus e do agir de Deus na vida das pessoas.
Fase Prática (Campo)
 Atividades:
Aplicação dos conhecimentos adquiridos em ambientes clínicos e comunitários, ensino em saúde, oração, discipulado e evangelismo, levando cuidado integral e esperança a pessoas e comunidades.
Essa combinação entre ensino e prática no campo prepara os alunos para servir com excelência, compaixão e sensibilidade espiritual, impactando vidas de forma profunda e duradoura.

A Jovens Com Uma Missão (JOCUM) oferece programas de treinamento em mais de 650 locais diferentes, espalhados por 180 países, em cerca de 100 idiomas. Essa universidade global é chamada Universidade das Nações (UdeN), dedicada a discipular homens, mulheres, jovens e adultos...
- [DTS](https://ywamguineabissau.org/training) DTS - Discipleship Training School We are dedicated to doing whatever it takes to know God and to make Him known, together. Our Discipleship Training Schools (DTS) are 5 month, two-part, discipleship courses which serve as an introduction to global missions.  DTS - Theoretical Phase Duration: 3 months Local:  Jocum Gabu Activities: Lectures on discipleship, worship, prayer, and elective skill development. Objective: To allow God to change your life based on learning, going beyond intellectual knowledge. DTS - Practical Phase Duration: 2 months Activities: Evangelism and cross-cultural missions. Objective: To apply what we learned and share the good news of Jesus Christ. Next DTS: Starts on October 3rd, 2025. Introduction to Primary Healthcare School (IPHC) "Come discover the biblical foundation for health and healing, learn hands-on health care skills and how to pray and minister to others." IPHC combines three months of face-to-face classes with a two-month field assignment in a developing nation. Lecture Phase Content: Training in practical healthcare skills such as patient assessment, vital signs, and wound care. Objective: To understand how illness affects body, soul, and spirit, promoting healing and freedom through God. Practical Phase Activities: Use of skills in clinical settings, health teaching, prayer, and evangelism. From May to July, we held the first School of Health/ICBS at YWAM Guinea-Bissau, in West Africa. This event marked a new beginning, and we believe that the Lord will use health as a powerful tool in this nation. We have eight students of different nationalities and ethnicities, and teachers from four continents, demonstrating intense dedication and learning. We worked in schools, villages, in the regional hospital of Gabú, in maternity hospitals, local clinics, and we ended with a practical period in a village of an unreached people, where we witnessed hardened hearts being touched by the love of God. During these three months, we reached about 350 people with basic health care, in addition to sharing the Word of God. Training In our base, we have several courses. This global university is called the University of the Nations (UfoN), dedicated to discipling men, women, youth, and adults, equipping them with the skills they need to serve and reach the world for Jesus. UFON's methodology combines traditional (formal) classroom teaching with an environment of discipleship and practical experience (informal and non-formal) in the mission field. - [About us](https://ywamguineabissau.org/about-us) Our Story YWAM Guinea-Bissau was established in 1990 by Brazilian missionaries. After talking to other mission agencies in the capital, including WEC, they heard that the least reached region of the country was the city of Gabu.  When they arrived in Gabu, they found favor in the eyes of the local leadership, who donated a plot of land where the base is still established today. The YWAM School soon began and then the clinic, both of which have been serving this community for decades, with thousands of lives impacted. Over the years, we have started countless projects, several churches have been planted, hundreds of Guineans have been trained and encouraged to take their place in the divine narrative. Our Goals Vision All Guineans will have the opportunity to hear and understand the gospel and be empowered to take their place in the kingdom, from individual salvation to social transformation. Ao chegarem a Gabu, encontraram apoio na liderança local, que doou um terreno onde a base permanece até hoje. A Escola da JOCUM logo foi inaugurada, seguida pela clínica, ambas servindo a comunidade há décadas e impactando milhares de vidas.
